This hierarchical tree could be more expanded, but I felt that it touches on the general idea that many mediums can exist within a class of other mediums. Take for example, A Man In Full, written by Tom Wolfe. This is an example of an autobiography which is a sub-class of the medium of biographies which is really a part of the medium of books which would be more broadly considered under the medium of writing which is a form of the medium of art.
